Magazine Project Planning - Sports Illustrated Kids

This magazine is titled Sports Illustrated Kids: The Summer of Soccer.  This magazine had two covers.  The first cover was an advertisement for the movie Independence Day that took up the entire front page and entire back page.  The cover with the advertisement on it has the title Sports Illustrated Kids on the top center of the page.  On the second cover,  the title is once again in the top center of the page in lighter colors that fit the theme of the magazine better.  Lionel Messi is on the cover in his soccer uniform to catch the eye of people in grocery stores who know who he is and like him so that they will come and buy the magazine.  To the right of Lionel Messi, it has a subtitle that explains, "The Summer of Soccer."  This lets the reader know that there will be content in the magazine about soccer and the picture of Messi implies that the article will include him. The magazine used a bright variation of colors with pea green, light blue, red, and orange as the main colors.  This magazine includes articles about sports highlights and content.  These articles appear on almost every page except for 2-3 pages that have ads on them in the beginning and end of the magazine.  Advertisements appear on the first cover of the magazine, page seven, forty, forty-five, forty-seven, and forty-nine.  These advertisements include pages about other magazines, movies that were in theaters at the time, and deodorant ads.  On the cover of the magazine, a picture of Lionel Messi appears of him in his soccer uniform with a soccer ball.  There is no table of contents in this magazine.  For the articles, there are pictures of the athlete that the article is based on and shows an action shot of them during their highlight.  The distribution number for Sports Illustrated Kids is about 23,000,000.  I could not find in my research any nominations that Sports Illustrated Kids have won.

3rd Quarter Final Submission

I have made various revisions since my last quarter's submission.  I updated my cover photo to a picture of Kane Reyes.  This picture has better quality and is a better shot for a cover, as it is an action-shot and I feel that it would persuade a reader to want to open the magazine.  I also updated the text fonts and the layout of the captions on the cover to a more professionally aligned position.  On the other three pages, I changed the background layout to a solid color of white considering that it would be much more expensive to print these pages thousands of times for magazines.  My third revision was that I had added more to my title of contents making it look more realistic/professional and added another picture onto the page of Drew Warrington shooting a mid-range shot.  I feel that these pictures all support the basketball theme of the first few pages of my magazine.  I feel that I am progressing to make the intro to my magazine ...
